No more gauling around: the gallic wars

Location: Boswell 203

Today, Julius Caesar’s The Gallic Wars is considered a foundational text in any classics education; however, it also serves as the primary historical record of the Roman Empire’s first period of explosive growth, written by its main character. To hear Caesar tell it, his campaign survived as much by chance as by his leadership. Its result was disastrous for the huge variety of Celtic peoples who inhabited Western Europe. But what if those chances had gone the other way? Delegates will lead a selection of Gallic polities in their struggle for freedom and survival.
